Catholic Identity

  • Our Philosophy

Dedicated to designing an individual program of success for each child.
  • Cardinal Joseph Bernardin Catholic School supports the Mission of each of the four sponsoring parishes while building a school community of believers. Modeling after the life of Cardinal Joseph Bernardin, all members of the school community work together to build a faith community where peace is pervasive and respect for all of God’s people is expected.

As an academic institution, CJB School is dedicated to designing a program of success for each child. These learning experiences include opportunities to challenge and enrich talents, strategies to compensate for weaknesses, and programs designed to give children the skills to succeed in the 21st century. Additionally through fair, firm, and consistent discipline, children grow in responsible decision-making, self-esteem, and self-respect. We believe that the focus of the Cardinal Joseph Bernardin Catholic School experience is to motivate students to learn, which in turn, will enhance their self-esteem. Our goal is to prepare students to be life-long learners as well as responsible members of their community, able to interact with people of all races and nationalities as they go out into the world. Through the example of the staff and the daily experiences of the curriculum, children learn the truths of our faith, participate at their parishes, attend a variety of liturgies and prayer services, and respond to the call of service to those in need.

Cardinal Bernardin students strive to develop their own personal identities while maximizing their God given talents. They are expected to be respectful, accepting, and cooperative with each other and with their teachers. Our hope is that the Cardinal Bernardin student approaches learning with openness and eagerness, while remaining joyful in their endeavors, appreciative of their opportunities, and willing to share with others as they grow in faith and wisdom.

Recognizing parents are the primary educators of their children, our staff supports, supplements, and enriches all experiences of family. Parents play a critical role in the support and enhancement of the educational and faith development of their child. Organized parental involvement is encouraged.

  • Faith Formation

The mission of Cardinal Joseph Bernardin School is to provide a dynamic Catholic environment where faith is nourished and knowledge grows. Our regionally sponsored school, rooted in faith, prides itself on the legacy that has been established which empowers students to live The Good News. CJB students grow spiritually and deepen their faith through daily prayer, school liturgies and prayer services, special religious celebrations and service projects.  Students participate in weekly liturgies as altar servers, lectors and cantors.

You are encouraged to participate in school liturgies, to unite with your child at these celebrations, and to be an active part of building a Faith Community.

The school builds upon the faith foundation received at home. It is essential that the family celebrate the Liturgy as a family at Sunday Mass in their parish.
