Admissions Process

  • New family enrollment applications for the 2021-22 school year are accessed by visiting and clicking on ADMISSIONS.  Scroll to and click on NEW STUDENT REGISTRATION.  You will be brought to a link and may proceed from there.

Open enrollment takes place during the month of February; however, we will continue to accept applications until all spaces are filled.  Notification of acceptance will be sent via USPS by early March, once open enrollment closes and the online application is processed and approved by the parish and the school.

In addition to completing the application, the following are required to complete the registration process:

    • $250 (per family) enrollment fee (non-refundable unless the school is unable to accept student)
    • Original Birth Certificate     (will Be Returned Upon Request)
    • Original Baptismal Certificate if applicable   (will Be Returned Upon Request)
    • Copy of the 1st Semester 2020 Report Card (for students already in school)
    • All recent Standardized Test Scores and/or other school testing (such as MAP, AIMSweb, etc. for students already in school)
    • Copy of the most recent IEP or ICEP for students receiving special services (if applicable).  CJB has an Inclusive Education Coordinator (Mrs. Julie Budlove), but we do not have a self-contained Special Education class.  Families of children with special needs must meet with Mrs. Budlove to determine if the resources of the school will provide the best learning environment for the child.  The child’s place will be held until that determination is made. If the school determines that we cannot meet the special needs of your child, the enrollment fee will be refunded.
    • In many instances, depending on your home/sponsoring parish, the family may be required to meet with the Pastor prior to acceptance.

The above items may be dropped off in person any weekday in which school is in session (from 7am until 3pm) or they may be mailed to:

    Mrs. Cynthia Labriola Devlin
    Cardinal Joseph Bernardin Catholic School
    9250 W. 167th Street
    Orland Hills, IL  60487

Online applications received during open registration will receive equal consideration; all applications will be reviewed by the Pastors to determine that Enrollment Criteria are met.  Enrollment Criteria include being:

    • registered, practicing parishioners of one of our sponsoring parishes
(Practicing parishioners are Catholics who consistently attend Mass, send their children to Religious Education or Catholic school, and support their parish with “time, talent, and treasure.”  This is an on-going expectation during years of enrollment at CJB.  Use of parish envelopes is expected.)
    • registered, practicing parishioners of another Catholic parish
    • being a non-Catholic Christian family
(These families will be responsible for the full payment of tuition (no parish subsidy applied) and the student/family must participate in and fulfill all religious curriculum requirements, which include faith study and participation in the liturgical and prayer life of the school.)

Registrations will be reviewed on a continuing basis until all available places are filled.  For students transferring into Grades 1-8, consideration will be given to academic and disciplinary records.
