In a spirit of remembrance, Cardinal Joseph Bernardin School established the Memorial Program in 2011. This program was implemented in response to our desire to honor the deceased family, friends, and loved ones, of our community, and to show an expression of condolence to those who have experienced a loss. Names compassionately submitted for those who have lost someone whether recent or past are prayerfully entered into a Memorial Book of Prayer. The school acknowledges recent losses during morning broadcast prayer, weekly Mass intentions, and again at the All Souls School Mass in November. Donors and families of the deceased are welcome to attend this special Memorial Mass celebrated annually.
Memorial cards and remittance envelopes are available in the school office. There is no minimum donation required. Your memorial gift will support the needs of our school's educational program.
Those remembered will be named at our annual All Souls School Mass. Many of our CJB students participate by reciting the names of the deceased and by reverently bringing forth the written names of the deceased and candles to the altar during the memorial portion of the Mass. Through this meaningful All Souls Mass, students learn what it means to solemnly remember those who are with our Lord in Heaven, accompany a classmate who has lost someone, and to hold sacred the meaning of eternal life in the context of the Eucharist.
